MOTOR CURRENT SIGNATURE ANALYSIS (MCSA)

Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is the term used for the evaluation of the voltage and current waveforms.  This provides an increased advantage to diagnostics as power-related, motor-related, and load-related signals can be quickly filtered.  It also provides several unique abilities when related to power quality, DC motor analysis and generator analysis as well as other advantages.

ESA detects Motor faults using both Voltage and current & it tells the user about information from the point of test towards the supply

Electrical power moves a rotor inside a stator to turn electrical energy into mechanical energy. The functioning motor will then create a set of vibration patterns which cause ripples on the current sine wave. Current sensors can pick up this analog signal and turn it into a digital data stream for further analysis.

Algorithms convert the data into a pattern of behaviour that defines the range of sine wave shapes and ripples that occur under normal, healthy circumstances. Anomaly detection algorithms can then track changes over time and identify “unhealthy” deviations that cannot be explained by operational factors such as changes in load and power.
